Dr. Al Najjar received her PhD in Mass Communication from Edinburgh University. She is now working as an assistant professor at the American University of Sharjah, UAE.

Ms. Dib is currently pursuing her PhD in the faculty of Media and Communication at Freie Universität Berlin

 

Ali Hashem, Iraq

Mr. Hashem is a Columnist for Al-Monitor. He is an Arab journalist serving as Al Mayadeen news network’s chief correspondent.

Bahia Halawi, BA

Ms. Halawi is an entrepreneur and co-founder of Data Aurora. She is currently one of the leading data journalism practitioners in the Mena region and fulfilling a Masters degree in Computer Science at LAU, Lebanon.

Haydar Hamzoz

Hayder Hamzoz, BA

Mr. Hamzoz is a coordinator for the Iraqi Network for Social Media, and a trainer who provides Iraqis with digital security resources, social media tools and assistance.

 Hatim El Hibri

Hatim El Hibri, PhD

Dr. El-Hibri is an Assistant Professor of Media Studies at AUB’s Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Media Studies, Lebanon. His current research is in the history of media technologies and urban space in the Middle East.

Irada Zaidan

Irada Al-Jubori, PhD

Dr. Irada is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Editor of the research journal issued by the college of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, Iraq.

Jad Melki

Jad Melki, PhD

Dr. Melki is MDLAB’s chairperson and a Journalism and Media Studies professor at AUB, trainer, researcher and consultant. He currently holds the position of coordinator of the Media Studies Program, AUB, Lebanon.

Lina Ghaibeh

Lina Ghaibeh, PhD

Dr. Ghaibeh is an animation and comics artist living in Lebanon, and a full-time associate professor teaching animation, interactive media design, and comics at AUB, Lebanon.

May Farah, PhD

Dr. Farah is the Co-Chairperson of MDLAB. She is an assistant professor in the Media Studies program at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon.

 Marita Kassis, Lebanon

Ms. Kassis is a political analyst focusing on Middle East, Security & Counter-Terrorism. She is Currently the Managing Editor of Al Monitor, Beirut, Lebanon

 Mohannad Sabry, Egypt

Mr. Sabry is an Egyptian journalist based in Cairo. He was a finalist for the 2011 Livingston Award, and his articles have Been published by The Miami Herald, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Washington Times, GlobalPost and others.

Mushreq Abbas, Iraq

Mr. Abbas is a contributing writer for  Al-Monitor’s  Iraq Pulse. He has been the Managing Editor of  Al-Hayat’s Iraq bureau since 2005 and has written articles and studies on the Iraqi crises for domestic and international publications.

Ms. Mallat is a researcher at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon and an elementary school teacher in Dubai, UAE. She formerly lectured as an instructor of Media Studies at AUB.

Susan Moeller

Susan Moeller, PhD

Dr. Moeller is the director of the International Center for Media and the Public Agenda (ICMPA) at the University of Maryland. She is also a professor of Media and International Affairs at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism, USA.

Sut Jhally

Sut Jhally, PhD

Dr. Jhally is a Professor of Communication at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the Founder and Executive Director of the Media Education Foundation (MEF), USA.

Rania Al Husseini, BA

Ms. Al Husseini is currently pursuing an MBA degree at Liverpool University. Through the Doha Center for Media Freedom (DC4MF) in Qatar, Ms. Al Husseini was able to implement Media Literacy in more than 150 schools throughout Qatar (almost 50% of Qatari schools) as well as in other MENA countries, such as Bahrain, Egypt, and Jordan.

Toni Oyry, MA

Mr. Oyry is an instructor of Journalism and Digital Media at AUB, Lebanon. He received his MA from City University in London, UK.

Walaa Hussein, Egypt

Ms. Hussein is the editor-in-chief of the parliamentary news division at Rose al-Yusuf and is an an expert in African affairs.

 Yasmine Dabbous

Yasmine Dabbous, PhD

Dr. Dabbous is an assistant professor of Journalism and Media Studies and the director for the Institute of Media Training and Research at LAU, Lebanon.
